Medium-rise projects need a different level of qualification to a standard build — and CPC50220 is that qualification. If you’re already managing at this scale, we can help you formalise it through RPL, assessed by one of our partnered training organisations.

    INTRODUCTIOn

    Qualification Overview

This diploma equips candidates to manage medium-rise building projects, supervise teams, and meet regulatory compliance obligations — covering the National Construction Code, Australian Standards, site management, construction planning and contract administration.

There’s no formal entry requirement, though experience in construction or a Certificate IV in Building and Construction is recommended. In several states, this diploma is recognised as the technical qualification needed to apply for a medium-rise builder’s licence. RPL suits construction managers and builders already operating at this level.

The Diploma of Building and Construction combines theoretical and hands-on learning to give you technical knowledge and develop the skills needed to plan, coordinate and execute a building project. This diploma can help people enhance their career prospects by opening the doors for leadership roles and filling a much-needed gap in the building industry.

Please find our eligibility criteria below:

    • The candidate must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident. Alternatively, the candidate must hold a full-time working visa.
    • The candidate must also have a minimum of two years’ work experience in a building or construction role.

The nationally recognised Diploma in Building and Construction equips you with the knowledge and abilities to advance your professional experience. You’ll get the necessary management skills to oversee a job site and guarantee that projects are finished on schedule and within budget.

You will learn new technical skills such as creating drawings and sketches, conducting site surveys, and planning and executing projects according to rules and regulations for building and construction. You will also learn administrative and managerial tasks such as cost monitoring and estimation, planning and sourcing labour requirements and supplies, and controlling project quality, risks, contracts, and execution of projects. You will have the knowledge and abilities to launch your own construction business.

This diploma is a nationally-recognised qualification that will take you one step closer to a builders licence in New South Wales (as long as you meet additional requirements).

Registration and licensing requirements differ by state. Each state has an independent regulatory body that governs the building and construction licences. To find out more information about licences and their requirements, visit the website of the relevant regulatory body in your state.

When you get a builders licence, it means you can plan and execute building projects without supervision and can lead a team in a safe and professional manner. It proves that you are able to understand and apply the compliance requirements of building and construction work as a certified practitioner.
